10 scriptures that reveal the Bible is mythology

Genesis 3:21-24

The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them. 22 And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” 23 So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. 24 After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side[e] of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.”

This story is supposed to be the first thing that ever happened in human history. Yet there’s a sword there. It’s more likely that humans invented swords in the Bronze Era and included their invention in their creation myth than it is that God created the first sword.

Genesis 9:8-17

Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him: “I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you 10 and with every living creature that was with you—the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you—every living creature on earth. 11 I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.”

12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: 13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. 16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”

17 So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth.”

The story of Noah’s Ark is classic mythology. It’s not even Hebrew mythology. The men who wrote the Bible plagiarized it from a Mesopotamian story, “The Gilgamesh Epic.” This mythological story claims that rainbows didn’t exist until God flooded the world because He was angry at people for behaving how they’re designed to behave.

As is typical for writers of mythology, they took a natural phenomenon they didn’t understand (the rainbow) and created a fantastical story about how a supernatural deity added the phenomenon to the design of the universe long after the Big Bang. In reality, there was never a flood that destroyed the world. Two of every animal didn’t fit on a boat for forty days, and rainbows existed before the invention of the Bible.

Job 1:6-12

“One day the angels[a] came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan[b] also came with them. The Lord said to Satan, “Where have you come from?” Satan answered the Lord, “From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it.” Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.” “Does Job fear God for nothing?” Satan replied. 10 “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. 11 But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face.” 12 The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.” Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.

How could a human being possibly witness a conversation between God and Satan? It’s impossible. Therefore, the story must have been made up. Also, in the story of Job, God and Satan make a petty bet over how much abuse Job would accept and still love his abuser. The story of Job is a fairy tale that glorifies battered person syndrome and was written by an abusive human male, not the all loving all perfect creator of the universe.

Genesis 19:1-8

“The two angels arrived at Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gateway of the city. When he saw them, he got up to meet them and bowed down with his face to the ground. “My lords,” he said, “please turn aside to your servant’s house. You can wash your feet and spend the night and then go on your way early in the morning.”

“No,” they answered, “we will spend the night in the square.”

But he insisted so strongly that they did go with him and entered his house. He prepared a meal for them, baking bread without yeast, and they ate. Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom—both young and old—surrounded the house. They called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.”

Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him and said, “No, my friends. Don’t do this wicked thing. Look, I have two daughters who have never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you like with them. But don’t do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof.”

Lot, the only righteous man in Sodom offered up his virgin daughters to be gang raped by a mob. This is how much the human writers of the Bible valued women. Letting virgin girls be gang raped wasn’t outside their ethical framework, because they believed women were property. If the Bible is the word of God then women are property worthy to be gang raped at their father’s whim. But the Bible isn’t the word of God, and all people were created equal. You don’t have to be a prophet to know that.

Exodus 20:17

“You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female slave, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”

This is the tenth commandment in the famous Ten Commandments. It approves of slavery and places women in a list of property less valuable than a house but more valuable than a donkey. The all perfect, all loving creator of humanity would never write a rule like this. Only a primitive human being trying justify their preexisting cultural standards would ever write a law as shameful as this.

Deuteronomy 21:20-21

“Anyone who beats their male or female slave with a rod must be punished if the slave dies as a direct result, 21 but they are not to be punished if the slave recovers after a day or two, since the slave is their property.

Again, this is a rule that only a morally primitive human would write. God had no part in this.

Ephesians 6:5-6

Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people, because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free.”

Again, this is a rule that only a morally bankrupt human would write. God had no part in this, and the man who wrote those words knew it.

Deuteronomy 22:13-29

“”If a man takes a wife and, after sleeping with her, dislikes her 14 and slanders her and gives her a bad name, saying, “I married this woman, but when I approached her, I did not find proof of her virginity,” 15 then the young woman’s father and mother shall bring to the town elders at the gate proof that she was a virgin.16 Her father will say to the elders, “I gave my daughter in marriage to this man, but he dislikes her. 17 Now he has slandered her and said, ‘I did not find your daughter to be a virgin.’ But here is the proof of my daughter’s virginity.” Then her parents shall display the cloth before the elders of the town, 18 and the elders shall take the man and punish him. 19 They shall fine him a hundred shekels[b] of silver and give them to the young woman’s father, because this man has given an Israelite virgin a bad name. She shall continue to be his wife; he must not divorce her as long as he lives.

20 If, however, the charge is true and no proof of the young woman’s virginity can be found, 21 she shall be brought to the door of her father’s house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death. She has done an outrageous thing in Israel by being promiscuous while still in her father’s house. You must purge the evil from among you.

22 If a man is found sleeping with another man’s wife, both the man who slept with her and the woman must die. You must purge the evil from Israel.

23 If a man happens to meet in a town a virgin pledged to be married and he sleeps with her, 24 you shall take both of them to the gate of that town and stone them to death—the young woman because she was in a town and did not scream for help, and the man because he violated another man’s wife. You must purge the evil from among you.”

25 But if out in the country a man happens to meet a young woman pledged to be married and rapes her, only the man who has done this shall die. 26 Do nothing to the woman; she has committed no sin deserving death. This case is like that of someone who attacks and murders a neighbor, 27 for the man found the young woman out in the country, and though the betrothed woman screamed, there was no one to rescue her.

28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered,29 he shall pay her father fifty shekels[c] of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.

You can’t read these scriptures an honestly think they’re anything but the cataloging of primitive cultural values. Very few Christians who claim to believe in the divinity of the Bible would follow these rules today, because they’re barbaric.

Proverbs 27:15-16

“A quarrelsome wife is like the dripping of a leaky roof in a rainstorm;16 restraining her is like restraining the wind or grasping oil with the hand.”

The creator of the universe did not go out of “His” way to write down that nagging women are annoying. Like the rest of the Bible, it was written by a misogynist male.

1 Corinthians 14:34-38

“Women[f] should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission,as the law says. 35 If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.[g]

36 Or did the word of God originate with you? Or are you the only people it has reached? 37 If anyone thinks they are a prophet or otherwise gifted by the Spirit, let them acknowledge that what I am writing to you is the Lord’s command. 38 But if anyone ignores this, they will themselves be ignored.[h]”

The creator of the universe did not go out of “His” way to write down that women should be silent and obedient like good little pieces of property. Like the rest of the Bible this passage was written by a misogynist male.

Note: All of these passages are taken from the New International Version of the Bible.

However you felt about this post, you’ll probably feel the same way about these:

The Bible is mythology

Christianity is bad for you and society

Churches and Christian Culture

The most accurate version of the Bible, the King James Version states in Exodus 20:17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s. A servant is not a slave as you put it in your interpretations. In fact the meaning of servant is a person who performs duties for others, especially a person employed in a house on domestic duties or as a personal attendant. A slave on the other hand is a person who is the legal property of another and is forced to obey them. A servant is an employee not a piece of property. The servants were paid and respected unlike slaves.

I’m really, really confused about how anyone could believe in Christianity because even when the bible is proven to not be gods words with substantial evidence or but just using any version of the bible to a christian they somehow completely ignore it usually saying something like its being missinterprated which is exactly the point because the bible has been edited over thousands of years by humans on purpose to support their own beliefs. The bible is the very basis for Christian beliefs. They claim to believe what is written in it “undoughtably” as the only true words of God, yet their are over 50 different versions of the bible in English alone which are re-worded to the severity that they actually say and mean different things than each other many times. Do most Christians ask or research why that is? No, the ignorant ones don’t because if they did they would see many things such as this.—(Everyone knows the story about Jesus and the woman about to be stoned by the mob. This account is only found in John 7:53-8:12. The mob asked Jesus whether they should stone the woman (the punishment required by the Old Testament) or show her mercy. Jesus doesn’t fall for this trap. Jesus allegedly states “Let the one who is without sin among you be the first to cast a stone at her.” The crowd dissipates out of shame. Ehrman states that this brilliant story was not originally in the Gospel of John or in any of the Gospels. “It was added by later scribes.” The story is not found in “our oldest and best manuscripts of the Gospel of John. Nor does its writing style comport with the rest of John. Most serious textual critics state that this story should not be considered part of the Bible.)

How can any Human think any bible is completely true when it’s contents are story’s passed down person to person to person ect… Those story’s HAVE been mistranslated(if anyone denies this then they are idiotic as this is clearly evident), as well as severely re-written to the point that original Christianity(which may not have existed as religion at all) can not be followed. Most of today’s Christians will argue againsed what I have said here believing instead of considering all the evidence out there. They may think they have proof they are right but they completely ignore that current versions of the bible, the “templates” of their belief can mean different things than eachother is proof they are not God’s words but words of humans. There wouldn’t be contradictions in the religious book of a perfect god. Different versions of Christianity existing is a contradiction of Christian beliefs already because follower’s of other versions are not all be reading a perfect Gods words if they have said and mean different things even once. If somebody could still believe in Christianity after UNDERSTANDING that all current bible versions(the current base of the religion) are not anything like the first bible then they would not be true Christians. They would be believing(according to current christianity) in a false God condeming them.

if we were to follow the OT today we would be put in jail – if we believe the bible to be right and true then why can’t men stone their wives to death, cut out tongues, be jailed for heresy?

There is no historical evidence that King Solomon exist. The richest and wisest King on earth has no record of any kind that’s conclusive evidence yet there’s an historical account of multiple Egyptian Kings. The emotions of King David is preserve from psalms but it was irrelevant to preserve any factual information about him having exist. If you are expecting people to just believe that then you are delusional and quite frankly an idiot.

Your faith in the Bible is not sufficient evidence for anything factual nor your opinion. If you have proof then provide it, if not then you are just being dismissive of what you have no knowledge of. No one on here has provided evidence that the Bible is factual because you don’t have any. Do you research before posting nonsense. The Bible is allegory with historical accuracy but that doesn’t make it authentic or representation of what happen. The super natural can’t be proven but events like King Solomon ought to be able to in someway if not scripture has to be seen as fabricated upon the lack of evidence it has whether you choose to believe that or not.

If the bible is true word for word, then God is sick and those that follow and approve of a lot of these actions, you can make up all the reasons under the sun and rain, justify this or that, excuse this or not because it is the way of God. It seems to me a God of fear, showing the traits vanity, ego, cruetly, genocide, etc.not in line with love, just a cruel overseer that what comes across, but there again some of you holy than thou take great rejoice in knowing the truth (or not?)even if sick, condemning, and hurtful, it makes me sad.

There is so much that I want to say, but I won’t. If your eyes are blind to the truth and your conscience is seered to the truth and your heart is hardened to the truth, then only God can open your eyes. You can take the bible out of context, but it doesn’t change the truth. One day every knee will now and every lounge will confess he is God. Faith is a free gift, and its your gift to either accept or refuse. Either way its your choice. But I will say choosing Faith is the best choice you will ever maje, that’s to anyone reading this. Please soften your heart and let God show you a better way.

First I want to say Ignorance is Bliss, Most of us were convinced of the same silly things you mentioned above but this is why on average Atheist have higher IQs than Theist, P.S. I will include links to prove everything I say that I think will raise your blood pressure rise and they will be accredited links, not just what some uneducated Christian wrote.
Second in almost every college not funded or ran by religion they teach historical facts, nor myths, The facts are there were no such people as Abraham, Moses, Jacob nor Issac from the bible. When you disprove most of the main characters from your religion and take in the fact that most stories in the bible were plagiarized from previous cultures and their beliefs it pretty much destroys your beliefs, That is unless you have such an emotional connection you continue to lie to yourself and others like we do children in order to make them feel better.

This is a real good watch, It includes interviews with the actual Archeologist, Historians and Biblical Scholars on the actual digs, They should know more than anyone what the evidence points at

The bible is a great book of literature, so is harry potter. However, just because I read about a chamber of secrets does not mean I should believe there exist an exact replica of the chamber of secrets with tom riddle and a ridiculously large snake. All literature isn’t literal people that is why we have a funny little thing called “research”.

I guess the flaming sword in the story was put there by God not man. Man invented the sword much later as you rightly stated. But that sword was created by the same God who created the trees , land and seas in Genesis. The simple logic is that it is far easier to create a flaming sword than the sea.

Did you know that the scrolls that made into the book during the rule of King James aka The Bible, is an inconsistent chain of events, mostly told by individuals who weren’t even there to accurately tell the tale. It also was told by people who did not understand science, which was common among most formed religion. Things like the The Creation, Flood and The Messiah, all were stories told by other religions to justify their existence. With that being said does this mean The Bible is worthless, certainly not. It has some very valuable direction on how to be a great person to one another, or at least The New Testament does. At the end of the day people, nobody knows what is real or not and frankly it’s safe to say that you will not know if heaven or hell exist until you actually get there….so my advice, enjoy life be good to one another and stop believing everything some guy said 3000 years ago.

A thousand and one things I could say in the bid to correct this erroneous article but I see you’re not new at this. First of all if proper research was done on any of the texts you brought out, even naturally or rationally thinking you would not put this up. For instance, what man on earth is perfect, if the bible narrates an account, is it not for your good? does it mean every action recorded is meant for us to follow? Judas betrayed his Lord and it is in Scripture, does that mean we should all betray ours? If Lot in the bid to protect his guests made a wrong offer does this mean we should all do the same? If spiritual beings guarded a location would it be mere human invented equiptment that would spot it? Do you also know that the reason for the concept of “fake” is because there is an “original” imitated, unless fake would not be fake. If a mythological story is similar does that strike out the true story? Does it not show that there must be something it is a copy of. If the God of the bible is as powerful as we know He is (and even more) is relating an account that happened in His presence to an earthly man too big for Him to do (Job story)? If angels came in the time of Lot and looked like humans to sodomites, by using a camera how would you distinguish? On the other hand, if Angels came in their spiritual form and permitted your spiritual eyes to see them, would human camera also be able to capture spiritual beings? When even microorganisms that are physical can’t be viewed with the naked eyes or normal cameras. These are just a few questions for your natural mind to process and I haven’t even gotten into spiritual things yet. There are more things you haven’t seen and do not know but it doesn’t cancel out their reality because you are limited and the knowledge of man is finite.

I stopped reading after the first scripture (I’ll maybe get to it later.) – The Garden of Eden doesn’t exist anymore because God destroyed it in the Flood (from Noah fame) – which has historical and geological validity.. The sword referenced was in the hands of an Angel. Your interpretation here presupposes that you’re dismissing any reference to the spiritual or heavenly (or hell) realm. “The beginning” refers to this world/universe, God was constructing the world (like day/night, 7 day week) for our benefit… made simple for human comprehension, but God and Satan/the angels were around before this world…

    read Luke 24:45

Just because you say it doesn’t make it true. No need to spread false “historical and geological” data to prove your point. The FACT is that there is NO geological evidence of a “great flood”. In fact there IS geological evidence that there was no flood that covered even part of the earth.

There is a lack of understanding about how culture and the truth of spiritual principles meet. Slaves of this time would DECIDE to become a slave. Masters were told to care for their slaves. They would even have a choice to leave at certain points and many would choose to stay. This was a very different situation then the racial issues of America. Women WERE mistreated in these cultures. That definitely comes through in the cultural writing. Women were not educated like they are today. They could not hold jobs. They were not able to care for themselves like they are today. This wasn’t exclusive to believers in God, it was how all people were back then. Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water. Warped culture YES, Bible worthless, Nope! Gal 3:29 “There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Now THAT was progressive & liberal during that time.

The bible is more fantastic than the harry potter stories- at least those dragons only had one head. Not quite as scary as a dragon with 7 heads. Also, the god of the bible is more evil than lord voldemort in the harry potter books. At least lord voldemort doesn’t punish those who cross him by eternal torture in a lake of fire and brimstone.

The majority of issues your trying to throw at biblical textso are severely taken out of context. It’s a matter of interpretation. I can tell you a story about a vicious whale who liked to kill people or a sailor he’ll bent on catching said whale.. (referring toobey dick of course) but it doesn’t mean that my interpretation was the original context of the person that wrote it.. also a little research and you’ll find there are countless stories throughout many different cultures of a flood whether local or worldwide so making a geographic blanket statement shows your lack of research into your preconceived comments.
